Summary:

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
General Health Science Series 0601 (opm.
gov) Education:
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree:
major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.
This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.
S.
Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM
Qualifications:
GS-11:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-09 in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
providing new employee health and safety orientations; maintaining/updating emergency response plans or procedures; collaborating with others to institute control or remedial measures for hazardous or potentially hazardous condition; assisting with Emergency Management activities; use specialized industrial hygiene equipment; performing safety officer duties such as:
Environment of Care tours, investigations, PPE training; participate on an accrediting body assessment or closeout.
GS-12:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-11 in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
conducting periodic reviews of institutional programs and physical environments; developing, reviewing, revising guidelines and policies on safety management; providing industrial hygiene consultation services; planning reviews for new construction and renovation projects involving institutional facilities.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR:
You must possess a professional registration through a recognized organization or state, i.
e.
, National Environmental Health Association Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) or Registered Sanitarian (RS), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
(MUST provide a copy of RS/REHS, CSP, Certification) Time In Grade:
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements:
Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.
Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
